Industrial air compressors don’t arrive in a cardboard box at your door. They ship by freight truck on a pallet or in a crate, often weighing several hundred pounds. A little preparation makes delivery day smooth and protects you if anything was damaged on the way. Here’s exactly what to expect when you order from Schulz Products.
1. Before you order: choose the right delivery option
Shipping is free nationwide to commercial addresses with a loading dock or forklift. If your location doesn’t have one, pick the option that matches it at checkout:
| Delivery option | Added cost | Choose it if⦠|
|---|---|---|
| Commercial, with loading dock or forklift | Free | Your business can unload a pallet |
| Lift-gate truck | +$60 | You have no dock or forklift; the driver lowers the crate to the ground |
| Inside delivery | +$60 | You need the driver to bring it inside |
| Inside delivery with lift-gate | +$110 | No dock, and you need it brought inside |
| Residential delivery | +$60 | It’s going to a home |
| Residential + lift-gate | +$110 | Home delivery without a dock or forklift (most homes) |
| Residential + inside + lift-gate | +$170 | Home delivery, brought inside |
Choosing the wrong option is the most common cause of delays and extra carrier fees. If you’re not sure, call us at (770) 734-6383.
2. Shipping and tracking
- Most compressors ship within 1β2 business days from our warehouse.
- Transit usually takes 3β7 business days, depending on your location.
- You’ll get a tracking number by email when your order ships. Freight is tracked with the carrier’s PRO number on the carrier’s website.
- Freight carriers usually call to set a delivery window. Answer unknown numbers that week, or give us the best number to reach you.
3. Get ready for delivery day
- Measure the path. Check door widths, ceiling height and turns between the drop-off point and the compressor’s final spot. A 120-gallon vertical unit can be close to 80 inches tall. Dimensions are on each product page.
- Plan the move. Have a pallet jack, an engine hoist or several helpers ready. Drivers usually aren’t required to move freight past the drop-off point unless you chose inside delivery.
- Be there to sign. Someone needs to receive and sign for the shipment.
- Prepare the location. Pick a clean, level, well-ventilated spot with room around the compressor. Have a licensed electrician ready for the hookup.
4. Inspect before you sign
This is the most important step. Freight damage is rare, but if it happens, the paperwork you sign decides how easily it’s fixed.
- Look at the crate or pallet before signing. Check for crushed corners, holes, tipped-over freight, oil stains or a broken pallet.
- Write any damage on the delivery receipt (bill of lading) before you sign. Be specific: “crate crushed on left side” is better than “damaged”.
- Take photos of the packaging and the damage while the driver is there if you can.
- Send us the photos right away at info@schulzproducts.com, with your order number, so we can start the claim.
If everything looks fine but you find hidden damage when you uncrate it, stop, take photos and contact us the same day.
5. Uncrating and first start-up
- Remove the compressor from the pallet carefully. Never lift it by the pump, motor or tubing.
- Check the oil level before the first start (piston models). Schulz piston compressors use SG-TM 30 semi-synthetic oil.
- Confirm the voltage on the data plate matches your electrical service.
- Read the manual’s start-up section. Most product pages have the manual under Downloads.
- Keep the data plate information (model, part number and serial number) for warranty and parts.

6. If something’s wrong
Every Schulz compressor comes with the full factory warranty: 2 years on the pump and 1 year on all other components. As an authorized Schulz distributor since 2006, we handle warranty claims directly. For returns, contact us within 30 days of delivery at info@schulzproducts.com or (770) 734-6383.
